Police tactical training centre

AIS supplied, installed and commissioned a live-fire, multi-lane, video-based training simulator at the new Police Tactical Training Centre for the Cleveland and Durham Police Authorities in the UK.

Customer requirements

The Cleveland Police Authority and Durham Police Authority decided to combine their budgetary resources to build a state-of-the-art training facility in the north east of England.

The centrepiece of the new Police Tactical Training Centre would be a 100 metre drive-in live-fire indoor range.

The AIS solution

Facing stiff competition from a previously specified competitor's basic simulation system, AIS convinced the Police Authorities to take up a customised PRISim simulator as an enhancement to the standard static target mechanisms.

This marksmanship training simulator provides the police with up to 8 lanes of projected targets. The system features an automatic marking system, which displays the fall of shot in real-time on a portable monitor located next to the trainee. AIS also supplied a separate laser-fire PRISim simulator with an integrated ShootBack™ cannon.
